Forms

Taegeuk Sam Jang (3rd) - Fire - symbolizes the "Ri", one of the 8 divination signs, which represents "hot and bright". This is to encourage the student to harbor a sense of justice and ardor for training. New techniques include Inside knife-hand strike, twin knife-hand block and the back stance. This poomsae is characterized by successive block-punch and, kick-punch combinations. Emphasis is laid on the counterattacks against the opponent's attack. 20 Movements.

One Step Sparring

There are five Green Belt One Steps. All one steps begin with attacker stepping back into a left front stance + low block and signaling their readiness with a Kiap. Defender starts from a Ready Stance (Joon Bi) and signals their readiness with a Kiap. The Attacker steps forward with a single middle section punch...

    1. Step Left into a riding horse stance - Right open hand block - Left middle punch to ribs

    2. Grab opponent's left wrist with right hand - Left foot steps up while pivoting right so feet are together and opponent is to your left - Left knife hand strike to neck

    3. Two hand wrist lock - Right foot steps in between opponent's feet

    4. Bring opponent's hand close to your body at waste level - Pivot on right foot - sweep Left foot around taking opponent to the ground

    5. heel stomp to opponent's face - !!KIAP!!

    1. Step Left into a riding horse stance - Right open hand block - Left middle punch to ribs

    2. Grab opponent's Right wrist with Right hand - Left hammer fist elbow strike

    3. Both hands control opponent's right wrist - Swing wrist down then back up

    4. Pivot on right foot 180° right under opponent's arm

    5. Wrist throw over Right shoulder taking opponent to ground - Extend left leg and place left foot in opponent's neck while going down to right knee - Pull back on opponent's arm.

    6. Right (reverse) punch to face - !!KIAP!!

    1. Step forward into Right back stance - Right wrist inward block

    2. Pull right foot back

    3. Pivot 180° Left on right foot

    4. Move left foot towards opponent into a horse stance - Left supported elbow strike to ribs

    5. Move left back to right foot - Left back fist strike to temple

    6. Pivot on left foot >180° - step out with right into horse stance - right middle punch

    7. Left upper punch - !!KIAP!!

    1. Step right into horse stance - Left open hand block

    2. Right supported spear hand attack to mid-section

    3. Right backfist to nose

    4. Left middle punch

    5. Right upper punch - !!KIAP!!

    1. Right jump front kick to face - !!KIAP!!
